Article: 5 Ways to Showcase Your Photos

My new article for TalentEgg LAUNCH has been published. It’s called 5 Ways to Showcase Your Photos. Great for any photographer who likes to show off their work in their home or apartment.

Photo albums: This may seem like an obvious one, but it’s an old stand-by for a reason. What I recommend is getting a really nice photo album with an interesting cover, something that will catch the eye of friends and family. (See rest of article)

From Dorm to House

(I realize I haven’t updated this blog in months – but it’s hard to think about interior design and creative projects when you live in a cramped dorm room that never seems to be clean. But I had to share this bit of news.)

I’ve signed a lease on a house. I’m moving in with Jenn, Loralee and Loralee’s boyfriend Brent. Thanks to Google Maps Street View, I was able to take a photo of my new home, seen here.

We move in on June 1.

The place has five bedrooms, one-and-a-half baths, three floors, a back yard, wireless Internet and is located in a really convenient spot downtown, and is only a few minutes from my school.

Needless to say, I’ve been thinking about interior design again. So, this blog will likely have a rebirth of some kind. And that’s always exciting.

I’ve recently gotten into painting again and have been looking at ways to display photography in my new home. I also plan to decoupage an old night table. I’m looking forward to it- and I’ll post photos and tips along the way.

(Oh. And you know that wooden bird thing I wanted way back in August? I got it for Christmas. And I love it.)

“Bored to Death” Apartment

I just watched the first episode of HBO’s new sitcom Bored To Death, starring with adorable Jason Schwartzman. He plays a writer/private detective. And his NYC apartment is so beautiful. (Anyone know what area of NY he lives in? Maybe Queens. I’m not sure.) Anyway, it’s gorgeous. I took a couple screencaps to show you.

Cellphone Photography: Masstown Market

So, I miss my camera so much. It feels weird, knowing that my camera is off in some far off land (Well, Toronto, anyway). I only have my cell phone now. Sheesh. But today, I was roaming around Masstown Market (outside of Truro, Nova Scotia) and I found a few items I really liked and snapped some photos. They have some really cool stuff there. Might have to pick up a few items when I go to decorate the apartment next summer.

5 Museums: New York City

When I went to New York City in December, I was only there for a few days so I didn’t get an opportunity to check out all the museums I wanted. (One day…) But in this new multi-part series, here on My Kingdom, I’m going to discuss five museums in various cities. I’ll include all the museums I’ve visited (it’s a short list) and all the museums I would like to visit.

Here is the first edition of 5 Museums.

I would totally love to see this, The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Anyone who enjoys watching fashion shows on TV or flipping through glossy-page fashion magazines knows that fashion is just another art form, just like painting or sculpture. You can even take a sneak peak at their galleries online.

I love black & white bedrooms.

Black and white bedrooms are so beautiful, classic and elegant. I’d love to do my future room like that. Here are some fabulous black and white bedrooms. Photos from Apartment Therapy and DecorPad.
